Autoři v článku zmiňují tři témata života krkavcovitých ptáků (Corvidae) studovaná v současné době v mezinárodním kontextu. Jde o individuální vynalézavost a hravost, ritualizované chování vůči mrtvým jedincům vlastního druhu a schopnost přetvářet lokální ekosystémy díky využívání skládek. Hravé a kreativní chování, které je často na pomezí účelného jednání a primárně neužitečné až nebezpečné činnosti, je tak jedním z důležitých etologických a ekologických znaků mnoha druhů.

In this article the authors refer to three topics relating to the lives of the Corvidae, which are currently being studied within an international context. These are individual inventiveness and playfulness, ritualised behaviour towards dead individuals of their own species and the ability to recreate local ecosystems by using landfills. Playful and creative behaviour, which is often on the boundary between special-purpose activity and primarily useless to dangerous activity, is thus one of the important ethological and ecological characteristics of many species.
