Changes in the activity of genes during a lifetime or as a consequence of an illness are important issues for contemporary genetics. Only gene chip technology has allowed us to study the activities of thousands of genes at the same time, which is a key phenomenon in what is known as function genomics. The principle of this procedure consists in a mechanism of hybridization between two fractions of DNA, one immobile (oligonucleotid or cDNA) fixed to a solid ground, and the other mobile in a solution (the investigated sample), which is transmitted to the surface of a chip. This technique is one of the latest promising genomics methods.
