Ve středním a dolním Poohří, známém od botanických průzkumů v pol. 19. stol. svou slanomilnou flórou, došlo koncem 80. let 20. stol. po dokončení odvodňovacích prací k praktické likvidaci mokřadních stanovišť a k úplnému vymizení či ústupu populací citlivých slanomilných a slatinných druhů. Vybudování retenčních nádrží na Lkáňském potoce přispělo k obnovení druhové diverzity v této intenzivně obhospodařované krajině.

The middle and lower part of the Poohří region are known through the halophyte flora on the basis of botanical research conducted since the middle of the 19th century. However, at the end of the 1980s, after the drainage network was completed, all wetlands were destroyed and populations of vulnerable halophyte and fen species were suppressed or even became extinct. The construction of retention reservoirs in the basin of the Lkáň brook contributed to the revitalization of species diversity in this area of intensive land management.
