The genus Liquidambar includes deciduous trees which are small to very tall plants. It is an example of Euroasian-Northamerican or Holarctic relict dispersion, as we find species that have survived to the present day growing in two continents and separated by wide gaps between their habitats. Liquidambar trees are planted in the Czech Republic but older trees are very rare.
