The invasive plant species have been spreading very intensively over the last decades by river corridors to the river-floodplain ecosystems. Their influence on the native plant communities is known, but their impact on other trophic levels of ecosystems, for example on molluscs, has not been described until recently. It has been shown that some invasive plants significantly reduce the species diversity of mollusc communities and abundances of gastropods.
