B. Němec is a founder of the theory that the cells of a root terminal with moving starch register pressure in the root position and in the event of some change they send a signal to the growing part of the root terminal, where an irregular growth starts enabling the return to the right position of the root. More than 100 years after this theory was first published, research into this phenomenon continues, focusing primarily on cytological changes in statocyst cells and the signal transfer from root terminal to the growth zone.
