Národní park Nahuelbuta v jižním Chile chrání zbytky unikátních biotopů v pohoří Cordillera de la Costa s porosty blahočetů (Araucaria araucana) a pabuků rodu Nothofagus s výskytem mnoha endemických druhů rostlin a živočichů gondwanského původu. Zbytkový les Fitzroya cupressoides v tomto pohoří chrání rezervace Monumento Natural Alerce Costero.

The Nahuelbuta National Park (South Chile) protects the area of the Cordillera de la Costa Mts. The mountains are located west of the Andes and are from the Palaeozoic age. The entire territory of the national park is covered by primary forests of the Monkey Puzzle Tree or Araucaria (Araucaria araucaria) and Antarctic Beech of the genus Nothofagus. In addition to many threatened vertebrates (e.g. the Kodkod Oncifelis guigna), a lot of endemic invertebrate species of Gondwana origin live there, as well as a remarkable mimetic complex of many beetle families.
