Levhart perský (Panthera pardus saxicolor) patří mezi vzácné poddruhy levharta. Původně se vyskytoval v Malé Asii, Zakavkazí a na Středním východě, v současnosti z mnoha částí areálu vymizel. Autor shrnuje aktuální informace o výskytu, o ekologii studované v Arménii a o historii a současnosti světového chovu v zoologických zahradách. Popisuje též chov a úspěšné rozmnožení v zoo Jihlava.

The Persian Leopard (Panthera pardus saxicolor) is a rare leopard subspecies. Originally, it occurred in Asia Minor, Transcaucasia and the Middle East, but it has become extinct in many parts of its former distribution range. The author summarizes current information on distribution and ecology studied in Armenia and on the history and present state of the Persian Leopard´s breeding in zoos worldwide. He also describes the keeping and successful breeding of this rare carnivore at the Jihlava Zoo.
