Otylky (Brevicipitinae) jsou žáby čeledi parosničkovitých (Microhylidae). Obývají rozmanité biotopy jižní a východní Afriky a jsou dokonale adaptované k hrabavému způsobu života. Autoři přibližují morfologii, výskyt a způsob života několika druhů otylek rodu Breviceps obývajících aridní biotopy jihozápadní Afriky, jejichž biologie je prozkoumána jen omezeně.

Rain frogs (Brevicipitinae) are frogs from the family Microhylidae (narrow-mouthed frogs). They inhabit various habitats in southern and eastern Africa and they have perfectly adapted to a digging lifestyle. The authors present the morphology, distribution and bionomics of some rain frog species from the genus Breviceps living in arid habitats in southwestern Africa, the biology of which has been little known in the past.
